BIOGRAPHY

DAKOTA MAMOLA is the son of 500cc Grand Prix racing legend Randy Mamola.

Born in Barcelona in 1994, it soon became clear that Dakota had inherited not only his American father´s passion for two-wheels but also his penchant for racing with a smile on his face.


After learning the basics riding a peewee Yamaha 50cc motocross bike down a dry creek at the back of the family home in San Pere de Ribes, Dakota´s skills and competitive edge were honed on the dirt-tracks of Kenny Robert´s ranch in Modesto, California, where his father learned his trade alongside other great names such as Eddie Lawson and Wayne Rainey.

The youngster made his competitive road-racing debut in 2005, competing in the 70cc Bancaja Metrakit series for three seasons before moving up to 80cc level with Team Honda Merson. Dakota finished second in the Catalan Championship and fourth in the Mediterranean Championship, scoring his first pole position in the penultimate round at Valencia.

For 2009 he signed up with Team Monlau Competition to contest the Metrakit 125cc Pre-GP division, scoring his first podium in the second round at the Catalunya Circuit and first place in the last Mediterranean race in Valencia. Dakota finished 3rd in the Catalan Championship and 5th in the Mediterranean Championship, missing 1 race...

Spanish-born to an American father and Belgian mother, Dakota is a keen student- he speaks fluent English, Spanish, French and Catalan- and skilled sportsman, enjoying tennis, soccer, basketball, skateboarding and snowboarding when he is not racing.g.

2010 Dakota joins the KRP team that that is oozing Grand Prix pedigree. The team is also supported by last year's 125cc World Championship runner-up Bradley Smith.
